Alie Pierce is a passionate storyteller, a polyglot and polymath, and human rights advocate, who has always been fascinated by people’s stories and motivations. Her passion for using her voice to effect change through multiple platforms such as social justice, inclusion, equity, and female empowerment, is how WeekenderNJ came to be. She believes a community news outlet serves its audience best by embracing values of inclusion, equity, and solutions-focused journalism. 

When she’s not working, you can find her spending time with her family. Her pronouns are she and her. 


J. Longo


J. is an illustrator and Storyboard Artist based out of Brooklyn, NYC where you can find him trapped in his apartment for months on end, probably staring out of the window and cursing everyone he sees who isn't wearing a mask. His work has been featured on The Daily Show, SNL, Sesame Workshop's "Helpsters," The New York Times, The Daily Dot, and The Toast.

Keith Moeller

IT Director

Keith Moeller (He/Him) is an IT Director and Information Strategist who manages the day-to-day operational technology. After spending nearly a decade working in technology and marketing for large multinational corporations and startups, Keith knows how technology truly drives growth and stability — and it’s not mastering the current technology flavor of the week. It’s how well technology connects and integrates with the people you’re trying to help.

Keith  holds a BS in Computer Science from Florida Tech

Sara Sands


Sara is a researcher, public policy advisor, educator, writer, and comedian based in Houston, Texas. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Producer of Liberal Arts MBA, an education and media group dedicated to cultivating spaces where all humans are empowered to pursue journeys that are meaningful to them. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Politics & Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and holds a Master of Philosophy in Education from the University of Cambridge and a B.A. in Political Economy and English from Tulane University. Her creative nonfiction short stories have appeared in Arkansas Review: A Journal of Delta Studies, American Chordata, and The Merrimack Review.


Julian Leshay


Julian (He/Him) is an award-winning photojournalist based out of northern New Jersey. He began to photograph professionally amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020 and extensively covered the Black Lives Matter movement after the murder of George Floyd in NJ and NY, as well as PA and D.C. He is a member of the National Press Photographers Association.

When Julian is not out covering protests and unrest in the North East, he is most likely found swinging from a hammock in a tree or broken down on the side of the road in his self renovated school bus.


Phil Garber


Phil has been a daily and weekly journalist for more than 40 years and has won the journalist of the year award twice from the New Jersey Press Association. He was born in New York City but followed his family to Bergen County when he was a wee boy and lived there, before venturing out into the world and college. He enjoys watching sports, as he is over the hill regarding participating, although he did work out regularly in the gym and will resume when the COVID 19 is gone.



J. Taft


Jennifer is a cartoonist based out of Portland Oregon. Over the last 18 months, her ‘Pandemic Duck’ cartoons have been used to showcase and amplify political and social issues impacting the nation.

🐢  Gary is our Chief Morale Officer (CMO). He specializes in social wellness & morale. Very into lazy sunny afternoons. Excels at short distance backyard races. Gary enjoys salad as a mid-morning snack.
