Republish our work for free!! 

 

Unless otherwise noted, you may republish the text of articles published by WeekenderNJ for free under the Creative Commons “Attribution” license. Here’s all you need to do:

 

Click the “share” button on the story. If it works for your site, copy the HTML code and paste it into your Content Management System (CMS).

Before publishing:

 

For online publication:

You must give us credit, in this format: “by [AUTHOR NAME], WeekenderNJ”. Please include a line at the top of the story that reads: “This story was originally published on [DATE] by WeekenderNJ.” The words “originally published” must link back to the original post on our site (not our homepage). 

 

  • You can’t edit our stories, except to reflect relative changes in time, location and editorial style.

  • Cartoons, illustrations, graphics, art, and photographs are not included under the Creative Commons license and therefore you do not have the rights to ‘republish’ without our consent. Contact our Editor - in - Chief, Alie Pierce for more information. 

  • You can’t sell or syndicate our stories.

  • Our stories may not appear on pages with ads that go against our stories. 

  • You can only publish select stories individually — not as a collection.

  • Any website our stories appear on must include a contact for your organization.

  • If you share our stories on social media, please tag us in your posts using @WeekenderNJ on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

For print publications: 

For print outlets, the above all applies. You must include our main url – www.WeekenderNJ – in the tagline: “WeekenderNJ (www.WeekenderNJ.com) is an independent community news media outlet. Giving voice to the community, connecting New Jersey and its neighbors, highlighting a wider world.” Let us know when you use our work by sending us an email to Alie.weekendernj@gmail.com.

Some other important notes:

  • You must not edit, cut or alter the story, except to suit your in-house style. 

  • When publishing the story, it needs to be published with proper attribution. Third-party content that is not owned by WeekenderNJ, including photos, must be separately licensed. You are solely responsible for identifying and licensing third-party content. WeekenderNJ expressly disclaims any liability arising out of your unauthorized use of third-party content.

  • If you share the story or a link to the story on social media, please tag us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook - @WeekenderNJ. 

  • You must not resell the story, run or sell ads against the story. It’s fine to publish on the story on a page that’s surrounded by previously sold ads, as long as the ads don't go against our story.

  • Any website on which the story appears must include a prominent and effective way to contact your news organization.

  • We reserve the right to deny, revoke or limit the rights conveyed herein for any reason, including (but not limited to) instances in which these conditions are not met or the reproduced material is not presented in a responsible manner.
